My experience of growing up in the Maroubra area was challenging just like any other kid growing up. I experienced all of my firsts in that area, first punch on, first cone pulled, first chase from police and first piece of 🐱 lol.. but I chose a path of music and creativity that has made me into the man I am today. I am stronger mentally now and am thankful for where I grew up. I been out west now for almost 10years and still see similar struggles from what I saw in my youth back in the early 2000’s in the east. When shooting this, I ran into a few young kids that are facing the same things I went through.. especially the young fella with the black eye, if they are reading this keep your heads held high lads, this stage is only temporary. Digging for vinyl is one of the most therapeutic and satisfying things one can do as a DJ. DJing has given me a lot in life lessons growing up.
